Who the Jumpflex Hero is for

Buyers who have looked at the springless price and decided it is not happening, but who also do not want a A$300 flat-pack. That is a large and sensible middle, and the HERO is the best-specified thing we found in it.

Households where an adult is going to use the trampoline. The published 160kg maximum individual user weight is the highest figure on this site — higher than the Everfit 16ft, higher than the Vuly — and the separate 250kg total rating is what covers three people on the mat at once.

Buyers who care about how long the frame lasts. Ten years of warranty, galvanising inside and out, and a six-layer rust-proofing process is a decade-scale specification rather than a season-scale one.

Anyone who has read what a Springfree build involves and quietly decided against it. Jumpflex is a zero-bolt, zero-weld design they say goes together in about 20 minutes with two people.

It is not for a buyer whose decision rests on a published AS 4989:2015 statement. Read the safety section below before you go further.

The specification

The HERO line comes in four round sizes: 10ft, 12ft, 14ft and 15ft. We should correct something this page previously said — we had the range as "12ft up to a 19ft Mega". It is not. The HERO is 10ft to 15ft; the MEGA is a separate Jumpflex line that we have not specified and will not describe until we have.

Maximum individual user weight is 160kg, and the total weight rating is 250kg. Both figures are stated identically on all four size pages. Jumpflex separately describes the trampoline as "ideal for jumpers weighing 20kg – 100kg", which is a bounce-quality range rather than a limit, and we are not going to report it as one.

Conventionally sprung, with 180mm extension springs: 64 on the 10ft, 80 on the 12ft, 88 on the 14ft and 96 on the 15ft. The frame is a DualRing design — a 42mm high-tensile upper ring over a 38mm lower ring — and all metal components are galvanised inside and out under a six-layer rust-proofing process, with a UV-resistant powder coat on the visible sections. No bolts and no welds anywhere in the structure.

The enclosure is Jumpflex's SafeSeal system: a 360-degree net that clips down to the jumping mat the whole way around, with a self-closing entrance. Netting is 100% high-strength polyester with a UV additive, carrying Grade 6 Intertek UV testing.

Common to all four sizes: 89cm from floor to mat, a 1.8m net, and 2.7m total height. Mat diameters run 2.6m, 3.3m, 3.7m and 4m; the yard space Jumpflex asks for is 3.5m, 4.1m, 4.6m and 4.8m in diameter plus a further metre of clear space all the way around. On the 15ft that is a clear circle of nearly seven metres.

Warranty is ten years on the frame. Jumpflex does not publish a term for the mat, net, pad or springs on the product page.

What’s good

The 160kg per-jumper rating is the highest published figure on this site and it changes who the trampoline is for. Most backyard trampolines are rated for children; this one is rated for the adult who is going to end up on it at a barbecue. The 250kg total is the figure that covers what actually happens, which is several people at once.

The enclosure is done properly, and we spend this whole site arguing that the enclosure is the component that matters most. A net that clips to the mat the entire way around leaves no gap at the mat edge, and a self-closing entrance leaves no gap at the entry. Those two openings are exactly what the head-entrapment provisions of AS 4989:2015 exist to address, and both are closed here by design rather than by the owner remembering to zip something.

Ten years on the frame is Springfree's frame term at roughly half Springfree's price, and it is the longest frame warranty of any sprung trampoline in this roundup.

Galvanised inside and out is the specification that decides whether an Australian trampoline frame is still sound in ten years. Most brands galvanise or powder-coat the outside, where you can see it, and leave the inside of the tube to rust quietly from the condensation that collects there. Jumpflex specifies both, and adds a UV-resistant powder coat over the top.

Grade 6 Intertek UV testing on the netting is an independent test result on the exact component most likely to fail, in the country where UV is worst. Jumpflex could have simply said "UV resistant" and did not.

The assembly claim is the underrated one. Zero bolts, zero welds, about 20 minutes with two people. Compare that against the Springfree at the top of this site, where the composite rods go in under high tension and professional installation exists because the build defeats people.

Pros

  • A published maximum individual user weight of 160kg — the highest figure on this page, above the Everfit’s 150kg and the Vuly’s 150kg, and it is stated identically across all four HERO sizes. The separate total weight rating is 250kg, which is the number that matters when three people are on it at once.

  • Jumpflex publishes safety certifications and AS 4989:2015 is not among them. Every HERO product page states the trampolines are "built to global safety certification standards: ASTM & CE" — the American and European standards. We searched all four pages and the Australian standard is not mentioned anywhere. This is the number one organic result in Australia for this search. It is not evidence the trampoline fails anything, and ASTM F381 is a serious standard, but if AS 4989 is your yardstick then the brand most Australians land on does not cite it.

  • The 4.8-star rating from 17,680 reviews on these pages is a brand-level figure covering the whole Jumpflex catalogue — the same number appears on all four HERO pages and the review feed mixes in 8ft FLEX trampolines and accessories. It is not a rating of the HERO, and we do not treat it as one.
  • At 15ft the trampoline is 4.8m across, and Jumpflex asks for a further metre of clear space all the way round. That is a 6.8m circle of backyard before you count overhead branches — and a wind surface that needs anchoring, which is not in the price.

What’s genuinely bad

Jumpflex publishes safety certifications, and AS 4989:2015 is not one of them. See the safety section below — it is the most important thing on this page and it deserves more than a bullet point.

The ten-year warranty is on the frame only. The mat, the net, the spring pad and the springs — the components that actually wear out — have no published term on the product page at all. The frame was never the part you were worried about. Ask Jumpflex directly before you buy if this matters, because it is exactly the gap that costs the Vuly credit at rank three, and there Vuly at least tells you the answer.

It is conventionally sprung, with up to 96 extension springs under a pad. The pad is the component most exposed to Australian ultraviolet and it will perish before anything else on the trampoline. Treat it as a consumable, budget for it, and note that you have no published warranty term covering it.

The 4.8-star rating from 17,680 reviews on these pages is a brand-level figure, not a rating of the HERO. The identical number appears on all four size pages, and the review feed underneath mixes in 8ft FLEX trampolines, shade covers and slides. It tells you Jumpflex sells a lot of well-liked products. It does not tell you what owners of this trampoline think, and we are not going to present it as though it did.

The space requirement is larger than the size suggests. Jumpflex asks for a metre of clear space beyond the trampoline's own diameter, so the 15ft needs a circle nearly seven metres across. That is a wind surface as well as a footprint, and anchoring is not in the price.

Who should not buy this

Do not buy this if a published AS 4989:2015 statement is what you are shopping on, because Jumpflex cites ASTM and CE instead and does not mention the Australian standard. And do not buy the 14ft or 15ft unless you can give up a clear circle nearly seven metres across once Jumpflex’s own one-metre clearance is allowed for.

AS 4989:2015 safety status

Every HERO product page states that Jumpflex trampolines are "built to global safety certification standards: ASTM & CE". We searched all four — 10ft, 12ft, 14ft and 15ft — and AS 4989:2015 is not mentioned on any of them. Not in the specifications, not in the safety section, not anywhere in the page source.

We want to be exact about what that means, because it would be easy to overstate and easy to wave away. It is not evidence that the trampoline fails the Australian standard. ASTM F381 is the American trampoline standard and it is a serious document; CE marking covers the European requirements. Jumpflex clearly takes certification seriously — they also cite Grade 6 Intertek UV testing on the netting, which is more independent testing than most brands in this roundup mention at all. And we have not tested anything ourselves and never will.

What it is: an absence in what they publish, on the brand that holds the number one organic position on Google Australia for this exact search. An Australian company, on an Australian domain, selling into Australian backyards, listing the American and European standards and not the Australian one. If AS 4989:2015 is the yardstick you came here with — and this site is built on the argument that it should be — then that omission is a fact you are entitled to weigh, and the Vuly Thunder 2 at rank three is the model on this page whose maker does state it.

The one genuinely reassuring thing we can tell you from the specification is about the enclosure, and it is observable rather than claimed. AS 4989:2015 is substantially concerned with head-entrapment gaps — between the mat and the net, and at the entry point. A net that clips to the mat around its entire circumference and an entrance that closes itself are the two design answers to those two gaps. That is a design feature we can see specified, which is a different kind of statement from a compliance claim, and it is why we are comfortable stating it.

If the standard is decisive for you, ask Jumpflex directly whether the HERO is tested to AS 4989:2015 before you order. They may well have an answer that is simply not on the product page. We would update this section the day we saw it.

Verdict

On engineering, this is the best sprung trampoline on the site and it is not especially close. A 160kg per-jumper rating, a 250kg total, ten years on the frame, galvanising inside and out, an enclosure that seals at both the places enclosures usually leak, and a build that takes twenty minutes rather than a day. At the sale price of A$1,049 to A$1,349 it is very good value; at the A$1,299 to A$1,599 recommended price it is merely fair, because that is Vuly Thunder 2 money and the Vuly is springless.

On the standard, you have a decision to make that we cannot make for you. Jumpflex certifies to ASTM and CE and does not mention AS 4989:2015 anywhere we could find. That is not a failure, but it is a gap, and it is a gap in exactly the place this site tells you to look. If you want both the engineering and the Australian statement, the Vuly is the compromise — springless, AS 4989 stated, but with one year of warranty on its leaf springs against Jumpflex's ten on the frame.

And ask about the mat and net warranty before you buy either. Ten years on a frame nobody was worried about is the oldest trick in this category.
